For about
the last four years Fountains of Wayne have been my
favorite band. They write mostly upbeat, poppy tunes
that really appeals to my musical tastes. Many of
their songs tell stories of American
pop culture we
can all relate to. If you don't have any recordings
by Fountains of Wayne, you should rush out right now
and get some. I like these guys so much I've
recorded the following tunes in a tribute to
them. I cannot wait for their next CD so I can
get yet more new songs to record. Keep up the good
work guys. If you keep writing them, I'll keep
listening to them.
Unfortunately, Adam Schlesinger, the bass player
and principle song writer for FOW died in 2020
from COVID. As far as I know that put an end to
one of my favorite bands.
Adam Schlesinger also wrote songs for TV and movies.
Including the song That
Thing You Do, from the Tom Hanks movie of the
same name which I have recorded here. If you have
never seen this movie you should. Especially if you
have ever had dreams of making it big in music.
While Fountains of Wayne wrote (and owns the rights
to) all of these songs, for these recording I sang
lead and background vocals and played acoustic
guitars, electric guitars, bass guitars, pianos,
organs, synthesizers, drums, bongos, sticks,
shakers, tambourines, cabasas, and most everything
else you hear. My
beautiful wife Heather did some nice hand
clapping in some of these tunes. I
also arranged, recorded, mixed and mastered all of
these songs.
I do hope you enjoy my arrangements of these great
Fountains of Wayne's songs.
I want to make it perfectly clear, I record
these songs with total respect for Fountains of
Wayne who wrote and performed them originally. I
never have and never will try to make money on any
of these recordings. These songs cannot be sold
for any reason because I don't own the rights to
any of these songs. I record these songs for
myself, my family and my friends only, never to
make money.
For the best listening
experience,
listen to this music with headphones.
